Who would’ve known that dehydration would turn into a 2 1/2 week stay and premature labor. I Taleija Bennerson was admitted into Northside Hospital Labor and delivery due to dehydration and contractions with a decreasing fetal heart rate each contraction. My body had not been ready to labor, and my cervix was fully closed. At 6 1/2 months pregnant I was told I was having major complications with my pregnancy. During the hospital stay I was given multiple different medications to help stop the contractions to allow the fetal heart beat to remain constant and healthy. Unfortunately I was told that my chances of a normal delivery to push was a risk to myself and the baby. I was visited by the head of the NICU, perinatal care specialist amongst others and prepared for an emergency c-Section. On February 25th at 3-4am the baby’s heart rate fell off the monitor and I was rushed by nurses and doctors. At that moment the baby had lost her heart beat for a few minutes and had to be resuscitated in the stomach. Her heart beat recovered and at 12:00 noon February 25th I was rushed into the emergency c section. Xenoria was born at approximately 1:04pm that afternoon. Our journey continued with a 3 1/2 month NICU journey and finally coming home May 22nd to start life outside of the NICU.
